So I have been Collecting rocks over the years to have small Rock Balancing items.
Original at this location I did them along the rock walls, they looked great for me. Caught several chipmunks standing on them to get better views. Finally got some blurry pics once. Unfortunately, the local squirrels also enjoy eating up on perches. This was a constant war to place them back up.
What probably used to be an outside gas light still had its pip just above the grass. A perfect location for the Rock Balancing base. Basically, a 1-inch pipe that the rocks lay on, not attached in any way.
1st ones went up no problem. But it seems the more I try the harder it gets. I can either walk up and place them in place or not.
Later I added the Stick tripod to block the leaves from knocking them down. Once the house started to make noise and shake from the wind. I went to the windows to see things still standing. Then in all most slow motion, a single leaf made contact with one of the rocks and cause just enough wind drag to bring it down. I keep telling myself for one reason or another I should just start videotaping everything. Between the white hawk, a pack of crows, a coyote, @20+wild turkeys, deer, and about lost track of all the bids. All ya, and the Cows, chickens, and ducks outback.
Once the farm cat was walking across the street towards me, as I watch through my window. The Cat had all most constant eye contact with the Rock Balance and was acting like it may need to attack it. Once closer the cat continued on its way.
So having the Rock Balance in the front yard has made things a little boring for me, I really did not think they would keep standing with all the wind. But large round rocks work well.
One set went through most of the winter storms NE had the time around. Along with some rain and months of staying up. Finally, the house-made noises from the wind like none before, but they still stood. Next day direct neighbors had wind damage and trees fell. But not the rocks, with broken twigs and such surrounding them.
A few days later I wanted to verify if I removed the top rock they would all fall, and it was so. Barely placed them back in place. I then added a 4th rock and all was good for all most 2 days, sadly I did not take pictures.
