So a little while back LEGO finally came out with a LEGO Log Cabin set, unfortunately I personally was let down by the fact it was a brick cabin attempting to look like a Log Cabin.
I think the reason was building a Log Cabin like the ones I build may be too hard for younger humans, but I think anyone could build like I do, just need a little help.
In the past I just gave LDR files for examples for others to build from, today I will go over the mechanics that make up my original LEGO Log Cabins designs.
So please visit my forum topic on the Mechanics of Building True LEGO Log Cabins… the right way.
I will be posting how-to, images, LDR and LDD files, and some new modular LEGO Log Cabin designs.
Enjoy

Guess what! I’m not just into LEGO, I also build websites, but I really like designing stuff. Since before my awaking from the LEGO dark ages I have been thinking up better ways of doing stuff and designing all sorts of things.
Now that I have made it past a life changing few years I have decided to start posting some of my ideas. Some may be farfetched and some down to Earth.
My goal with starting my Web Design company was meant as a way to fund my true desire to build houses like non before. Buildings that flow with the earth and surround the occupants with nature from below their feet to above in the green roofs. Toxin free buildings that last for many centuries not a few decades.
So for now I will start posting with some of my oldest designs first and move forward from there. I hope you enjoy..

So around 2003 I was thinking how I could make my multifamily dome community safer, while minimizing the amount of pavement for the development.
My solution was a development that only had one way roads. All intersections were roundabouts with clear view of any oncoming traffic.
The way I laid out the one way roads and roundabouts meant only right hand turns were available to the traffic.

So after more research and some specs from Monolithic Domes I made some changes. First off this height of the dome would have a 34ft or more center height. This means I can get 3 floors within each resident area.

Just after art collage I found some information about people building Monolithic Domes. Basically they would blow up a balloon that is the full size of the house. Add some spray on foam and short create with rebar, and just like that house done. Well still needs the interior comforts, but a structure build to last, and through anything.

So it's been quite awhile since I have done any work building any LEGO MOC's. With most of my LEGO swag in storage, I decided to see how far I could get making my version 4 of the Enercon E-126 windmill hub with in LDD. These were made 100% in LDD, pictures made in other programs..

This design has been my current Dream House design for some time. The design incorporates only exterior walls that support the roof, giving the whole house an open and flowing layout. Once you enter the front door most of the outer windows are in view giving a panorama of views. With the ranch style layout the single floor square footage is under 6,000sqft. A bit large but hey it’s a dream house….

Going through all my files of LEGO Custom Roads I have made and posting the LDraw files to go with them in my Forums.
For now I uploaded all the LDR files that match pictures in my "Roads Gallery" . You can find these files in the "Roads Forums"
Later I will go through all the files of custom roads that never made to the gallery.

This was designed in 2009 and I thought it about time for a new design but wanted to first go over this MOC.

I just made my own forums live over the weekend. The main purpose at this time is to allow me to release some of the LDR files that go with some of my MOC’s, enable more info to be posted without creating more pages and bogging down my main site, allow others to share their MOC’s and enable some open discussions on some subjects and MOC’s.

Working on my 3rd revision of the hub and geared areas of the E-126 MOC. These new revision are being made in MLCad so at some point I will have whole MOC made in LDR and MLCad.
The picture below is how it is looking. The center MOC is to scale and is the finial size. The lower white bricks at the bottom of the MOC is the width of the tower at its base. This base is only 3 bricks tall to show the height of a Minifig. And this model is made to Minfig scale if the Minifig was 6ft tall in real life.

Setup my log cabin with a modified base to fit the community window at the Columbus Ohio LEGO ® store.

Post some progress of my newest Windmill designed to look and be to scale of the E-126 Wind Turbine. So if a minifig was a 6ft person in real life (Minifig = 6ft Tall thanks to Dave's LEGO® scale Converter) this LEGO E-126 will be a staggering 16ft tall when one of the blades is turned up. The base of the tower is 48 studs wide, and each blade is 4.6 ft long......

Many years ago I wanted to see how many different ways I could add bends, corners, and other changes in the LEGO train track layouts. Without needing to warp, bend, or make smaller filler track sections so the loops would connect. I used Track designer 2.0 to make my studies and layout. Since then.........

Since early 2003 I have been making various types of roads made out of LEGO bricks. In this entry I will talk about my current version I use. And share with the how and whys.

What started as a study in MLcad and Pov-Ray has evolved into some very interested renders. What I mean in renders is I create a scene as a photographer would in the studio but with in a CAD version made for creating LEGO models in the digital world. I then take these virtual models and choose the light and camera specs, just as a photographer would do. But I can....

Well I had this done to this point for all most a year and figured I should post it anyway even in an unfinished state. I will have a total of 5 big trees (only 3 are done now and those need correct colored trunks). The other 2 are just the bottom trunks and shafts for the trees....

One of my favorite building techniques for building homes is the classic log cabins. In an attempt to make a log cabin out of LEGO I worked out these designs. May be some day LEGO will make a log cabin set. But until then I will give my best instructions for building with a log cabin techniques. The secret for building these are the under floors. I have Technic bricks with 4 bricks between each Technic brick......

A few years ago I wanted to do some large Mosaics made out of LEGO bricks. While planning the project I realized how expensive the finished model would be. In an effort to find a cheaper way to make Mosaics out of LEGO bricks I came up with this style. Still have not picked a name but so far the best explanation is “flexible self-supporting accordion style mosaic.”...

What started as a new road design that I have wanted to do for some time, has turned into a bit more than just a new road surface. I found that the texture the 1x3 slopes give off when switching the directions of the bricks creates a cobblestone or brick look....
